Hey everyone! Episode 3 of the Opening Turn Podcast is contained within!
This episode is part three of the five-part series over live action roleplaying. In this episode, Riley Seaman and I talk about building an accepting community, managing a project, and working with the people being brought on to a project to help with the logistics of running a game. We also talk about our personal experiences with community rules and enforcement policies.
Again, there’s a lot here that isn’t specific to LARP, as the community building stuff is something that we’ve both observed over decades of interacting with others over the internet and in person. As always, we hope this advice is all helpful in some manner!
I'm an electrical engineer by profession and a video game and music afficionado by hobby. I primarily gravitate toward RPGs of both the eastern and western variety, as well as turn-based strategy and 4X games. I also spend a lot of time playing all manner of tabletop games as well as streaming playthroughs of my adventures in Eorzea. I've been writing about video games in an amateur capacity since 2012 and look forward to sharing my appreciation of games and game music. I currently reside in central Texas with my wife, two cats, and a slowly overflowing collection of games and sci-fi and fantasy books.
